Schoolchildren around the world participate in the Flat Stanley project. Flat Stanley is a boy who was smashed flat one night in an accidental bulletin board fall. He survived the incident and discovered that he could get in and out of tight situations and places that are normally closed off to the rest of us. It’s very easy for him to travel–all he needs is an envelope and a stamp. So now, children mail Flat Stanley to one another around the globe with letters either written by them, or dictated to them by Stanley telling of his adventures. In this modern age, Stanley has even gone digital! He’ll ocasionally be checking in here at Zhartvystan to report on his travels in Central Asia.
